About Alison

Alison is a qualified clinical and sports dietitian. Over the last sixteen years, she has worked with a wide variety of clients with differing nutritional needs. Most clients present needing to lose weight, lower their blood cholesterol, have dietary assistance for food intolerances (including fructose and lactose) and allergies and /or eat appropriately for diabetes.

Alison enjoys working with people of all ages (from babies to the elderly) with a variety of nutrition issues. She has a special interest in nutrition for children but also assists women going through menopause and post-menopause as well as individuals following a vegetarian diet. Other areas of interest include food intolerances (e.g. fructose and lactose) and allergies, sports nutrition, eating disorders, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) in women, adequate nutrition for older adults, and keeping kids healthy. Basically she can be of assistance to clients with any nutritional needs!

Please note that although Alison continues to undertake consultancy work for various organisations, she is currently unable to take on any new "one on one" clients due to a change in her family circumstances.

Alison has a strong academic background, having completed a Bachelor of Science majoring in physiology (1996), and Bachelor of Arts majoring in psychology (2002), both at the University of Melbourne. She also completed a Master of Nutrition and Dietetics at Deakin University (1998), to gain her status as a dietitian. Alison's interest in sports nutrition led her back to Deakin University, to complete her Graduate Certificate of Sports Nutrition (2000). She gained a Certificate in Paediatric Nutrition and Dietetics in early 2007, and a Diploma of Media Studies (Health and Fitness Writing) in early 2008. Later in 2008 she completed a Diploma of Professional Writing (Editing and Proofreading).

Alison spent four years as the dietitian with the Carlton Football Club, and a season with the Victoria Titans Basketball Team. She gained a strong grounding in clinical nutrition during her time at Ballarat Base Hospital and through her 6 years working with patients undergoing the laparoscopic banding operation for morbid obesity. Besides running her own private practice, Alison also lectures in nutrition for universities and other organisations, has written for various magazines including Runners' World and Ride On (Bicycle Victoria), and has spoken on radio on numerous occasions on RRR 102.7FM and ABC 774AM.

Alison’s main goal is to help people achieve
optimal health through good nutrition!
